First I would like to say a big thank you to the owners, they are very friendly, welcoming and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. We was leaving at 8am to go back to the airport meaning we would miss are breakfast, instead they said for us to go to the restaurant at 7:30am so we could have something before we left. Food was lovely and even though the dinner was a set meal there was plenty there to eat. We had a room overlooking the sea (very beautiful may I add) in there was your own kettle and two ring hob so you could make lunch and a hot drink if needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want something relaxing on some days and explore on others. Thank you.

Firstly a big thank you to the owners. My family has been visiting this hotel for the last 4 summers and have always been happy with our decision. The holiday is run by 2 brothers and are always ready to help and make recommendations about what to see on the island. Very good view of the ocean and village. There quiet a bit of steps to climb before you reach the beach but it is worth it. Rooms are cleaned daily and the food is very good. If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not for you, but if you want to enjoy your holiday and make new friends I would most definitely recommend it.

“Modern Hotel run a little oldfashionly!”

Let’s get the bad bit out of the way first. If you are disabled, or have difficulty walking, this lovely hotel is not for you (indeed Bali might not be for you!) – the access road is STEEP (as is most of Bali). We had a car, but if you book airport transfers, they drop you off at the bottom of the hill. Furthermore, being located on a hillside, the fiftyish rooms are spread across this over five levels. There are no ramps and no lift, so if you are on the bottom level, it’s a hike to the restaurant / bar / reception at the top! Don’t get the wrong idea – this is a lovely hotel. Rooms are modern and spacious. Views across the bay from them, and also from the restaurant, are to die for. I cannot remember a prettier spot (outdoor if you wish) to eat breakfast and dinner. Hotel Athina is run by two brothers, George and Basilis and nothing is too much trouble for them. We initially arrived at about 11:30 pm and George have saved us a decent meal in our room. They run things on slightly old fashioned lines in that dinner is set and served to you, so if you have any dietary requirements, state at the time of booking. Don’t assume (as we did!) it’s a buffet. Breakfast however, is a buffet, each morning there being a plentiful supply of bread, cereal, eggs, tinned peaches, yoghurt, honey, butter, jam, cheese, meats, etc. There is also a small pool to idle away some hours if that is your pleasure. In these days of faceless, cheap and nasty, all-inclusive deals, Hotel Athina is a refreshing change and we are pleased to rate it 4/5. A few tweaks would increase this, for example, a bar / lounge area with comfortable chairs (achievable easily by knocking through the top two bedrooms!). We enjoyed the first two weeks of May. Hotel very good, weather fantastic.

This was already the 3rd time we were visiting Athina. It is always a pleasure to meet the family, having good food and beautiful environment. We always come off main season, because we do not like crowded beaches and restaurants. Athina is such a place, were you can read your book or just enjoy the nature. Do not take rooms with number 1x or 2x. And do not get fooled by travel agencies who offer TRANSFER TO the hotel. You will be outloaded on the bottom of a steep road and will have to climb up 180 steps. Or you can call the owners and they will pick up your luggage

Just back from another wonderful holiday in Bali at hotel Athina. This was my second holiday there, Myself and partner stayed for 3 weeks this time as we love it that much. We met really nice people from Germany and hope to meet up with them again next year at the hotel. Bali is just a delightful little place to visit and if you are lucky enough to stay at Hotel Athina then its a bonus as the hotel is very very nice, a quiet and peaceful hotel which is owned by 2 brothers who are extremely nice and friendly.
