Our first visit to the beautiful island of Crete, our third experience of Louis Group Hotels designed for Adults Only. The 5* Asterion Suite Hotel is located on the quieter,  remote NW Coast of Crete some 35km from the airport and 20km from Chania town and has so much to offer for a quiet, child free relaxing break. Accommodation – The hotel has a 67 - room capacity, in a Bohemian style of boutique unit with varying board levels of B&B, HB or AI available to book. There are alternative room specifications on offer too. We had poolside with seaview first floor Cosmos room. Large, modern individually air conditioned, and beautifully fitted-out room with en-suite tiled walk-in shower and toilet facilities. A full width shaded balcony with panoramic sea and mountain view. Very useful when the temperature began to soar! Ground floor rooms have terraced, shared pool facilities if that was a guest priority with the balance made up of balconied suites and standard rooms. A daily housekeeping service keep your room spick and span, with daily towel changes and regular bed linen swaps. The public areas are maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness too. Services - The hotel is sited ideally for quiet, guest relaxation with low volume background music throughout. Poolside sun beds, soft lounging, sunshade umbrellas, Balinese beds and impeccable lawned areas separate the beach from the hotel. A nice size pool for the ‘water enthusiast’. If the beach is your preferred option, no problem. 10 traditional ‘thatched’ sun shades with sunbeds are exclusively available for guest use on the stunning beach location. Resident lifeguards oversees the pool and sea shoreline during the season. Visiting in early season the poolside bar was the only drink facility in use, but presumably the lobby bar alongside reception would be brought in to service as demand and occupancy grew.  Local drinks as well as international brands are AI included and available at the bar with more specialised products on request at additional cost.   Waiter/waitress service around the pool areas is the norm. Food - Main buffet restaurant is close and adjacent to the pool. Head Chef Antoni’s blend of menu has a strong local Cretan influence offering choices for all. Breakfast, lunch and dinner services are offered daily. Lunch is on an a lá carte selection menu incorporating local favourites and a comprehensive lighter range of snack options. Lunch is served 12 noon till 18.00pm. The overall food quality is good, with international bias to suit all palates,  vegetarian and vegans included. The additional 35° a lá carte waiter service only restaurant is available for guests, but pre-booking is essential. HB and AI guest have a single weekly visit included within their board package. The Meze dining experience is fabulous and highly recommended for sure.  Dedicated room service is available throughout the day till 23.00pm but with an understandable additional cost. Like the Cyprus Louis Hotels, a dedicated hotel application could be downloaded to request a range of services and information throughout the hotel and  beyond. A great novelty but very useful for sure. Low key entertainment, normally live music derived, occurs on evening programme throughout the week. Usual gym, spa and sauna facilities are also on offer for guest use to keep in trim. Now we come to the biggest plus and asset the hotel possess. Staff - From George Komporakis, the hotel general manager, throughout the entire hotel staff,  in whatever department sector they are engaged, the staff make up a  marvellous team. The most friendly, courteous, customer focused, hardworking and efficient team you could come across anywhere. Nothing is too much trouble to attend too. Asterion Suites Hotel staff are  highly commended for their excellent combined team efforts. Without exception, thank you to everyone in the staff team at this lovely Crete hotel, clearly earning its inclusion in the Louis Exclusive Range of hotels. In summarising, our 14 night stay was thoroughly enjoyed at this relatively new Western Crete location. Relaxation, pampering in stressfree surroundings are certainly the best description. Highly recommended for sure and we will, god willing, return again in the future.

Perfect spot for a relaxing holiday within easy access to Chania.

“Very nice modern hotel but lacks 5 star service”

Stayed here for 4 days with my other half, we arrived late at night and it took us a while to find the entrance as your dropped off in the car park and the reception is inside by the Pool area. We were welcomed and checked in and he started to walk us to our room but then stopped as he didn’t know where the room was, so he just left us and went to get someone else, another person came with him and showed us to our room. Not very professional. We weren’t told anything about the hotel as in where breakfast would be and times etc.. I had to ask these questions. Anyway the room was very nice, it was big and modern with a separate living area and large balcony and bit of a sea view! Welcome wine and fruit was on the table which is a very nice touch. In the morning we went down for breakfast and there is a pretty good choice for everyone, the issue we had was with the tea and coffee as you were welcomed and tea was bought over but no milk, then no one would come to the table as you try to catch they’re eye, once they do bring you milk after a a long while the tea is cold so you ask for a tea again and wait a long time for it, this happened every morning! I think they should install a tea and coffee machine so guests can help themselves as it was getting frustrating not only for us but other guests too! The beach is very nice and lovely sunsets in the evening, bar staff by the pool are really good and bring you drinks by the beach via their hotel app. We didn’t eat at the hotel in the evenings so can’t comment on the restaurants but there are a lot of very great traditional Greek restaurants nearby. The old Venetian port Town is about 25 mins away and is worth a visit as it has lovely views and great restaurants by the sea front. The staff on reception is a mixed bag some very helpful and nice some not so much as on the first day we asked the guy on reception about renting a quad bike but he just said I can help with a car but we asked if we can rent one in town and he said he didn’t know, we had to find out ourselves, he could of looked it up and given us a number. I must mention the lady on reception I can’t remember her name but she was lovely and showed us a few amazing places to visit, she was very knowledgeable and helpful. Again on leaving day the same guy was on reception again, we left our suitcases with him until it was time to go and when we went to get them there was no goodbye or safe journey home, no acknowledgment at all. He needs to learn good customer service for a five star hotel!!!
